When Abuse is Acceptable:
(As Long As it is Done By “Survivors” and to Professionals)

A popular advocate in the Mother’s Movement (name withheld to protect her privacy) lashes out after Lundy Bancroft issued a statement denouncing Claudine Dombrowski and American Mothers Political Party (AMPP) for their abuse. Anon Advocate was upset that other Protective Moms were voicing concerns about Claudine and AMPP, and the lack of response from the Mother’s Movement–which has become a very public debate which has fueled more vicious attacks, right in front of the eyes of the Mother’s Movement. Even when the proof is pointed out to them, many advocates, professionals and organizations in the Mother’s Movement have chosen to defend/support/make excuses for the abuser and blame the victim for somehow deserving this brutality.

According to Anon Advocate…We should be more understanding when “wounded survivors” attack, threaten and libel others. Claudine & AMPP are connected to this hate blog, and receiving sympathy from the Mother’s Movement even as they call Protective Mom & Advocate, Janice Levinson, a “c–” and a “b—” and post disgusting pictures that say “wild animal sex”. Is this becoming the norm in the Mother’s Movement?

Anon Advocate’s response…support the abusers hiding in the Mother’s Movement, the victims must be more tolerant of these deranged women because, after all, they did survive abuse!

This blog connects directly to the AMPP main site..see how they yell “F– You!” to Lundy Bancroft, call him a “cult leader” who “profits off moms” and states that “Lundy Bancroft is no different than many of our abusers”. The bottom of this Verizon shot reads “Comment As American Mothers..”

According to this Anon Advocate (direct quote) “we are dealing with wounded survivors and everyone deals with trauma in his own way” so basically we need to be more tolerant and understanding of the abusive behavior of attack mothers in the Mother’s Movement, and look the other way as they stalk, terrorize and harass others (many who are Protective Moms or Helping Professionals). In her opinion, the Professionals should not be protected because they are not survivors, and should be able to handle the abuse on their own or get help.

This screenshot (below) gives the new rules on how to deal with abusers, according to this advocate from the Mother’s Movement:

New Rules of Mother’s Movement from Anon Advocate.. Taking a stand against abuse, denouncing the actions of abusive advocates and supporting victims will no longer be “tolerated” because “we are not going to chose sides here”. “Those ‘Professionals” can take care of themselves or get the help they need’. Anon Advocate claims several professionals have reviewed the complaints, and support her in this.

Isn’t it concerning that an advocate Mother’s Movement is “warning” or threatening others to be silent about the abuse, and stating that their concerns will not be “tolerated”?

Anon Advocate even goes so far to say the victim does not have a right to defend themself because “this is about needs of the survivor”. This is an excuse for abuse. The above post by Anon Advocate prompts ATW to ask some logical and hard hitting questions; When does it become okay to frighten, intimidate and harm another person to suit the selfish needs of the abuser? Is this what the Mother’s Movement stands for? Is this the type of mind set and decision making skills “leaders” in the mothers’ movement possess? Are those in the movement unable to “walk their talk”? This person is considered an advocate and leader, really? Is this the best you can offer protective mothers in terms of support and safety? How can you ignore the abuse around you while advocating against abuse in family court?

How can those in the Mother’s Movement justify Claudinine’s extreme behavior and a very obvious threat of harm against Bill Windsor and other protective mothers? And yet those who raise concerns, according to Anon Advocate, and expose the abusive advocate will not be “tolerated”! What will it take for the Mother’s Movement to take a stand against the abusive and threatening actions of some of their “leaders”..or are they changing the rules to excuse abuse, and blame the victims as they are being stalked and terrorized?

Lundy’s statement includes a link to an attack blog as an example of the abuse and cyber bullying from Claudine and AMPP–this blog is filled with vulgar pictures, obscenities and outrageous false allegations against Janice Levinson, co-founder of PMA, and Bill Windsor of Lawless America. Some of the tags/posts include names of other protective moms as well. These cyber attacks are extremely vicious and clearly meant to cause the most harm possible–we applaud Lundy for taking a stand against this, and other abuse from by Claudine, AMPP and Supporters.

NOTE: ATW has been made aware that after this message from Lundy Bancroft was posted online, there have been increased attacks and cyber bullying from AMPP and Supporters against Janice, Lundy, PMA and other Protective Mothers.

NOTE: This post is about some of the internal dynamics of the national movement fighting for the custody rights of abused women (also referred to as “protective mothers,” because they are in the position of needing to protect their children from the other parent, but family courts are not permitting them to do so). But for those of you who are involved in the custody issue, it’s important to know about the attacks on activists that are happening.

For over a decade I have been one of the leaders in the international effort to secure full human rights for protective mothers and their children. There is no cause that remains as close to my heart day in and day out.

I am writing in response to the ongoing controversy on the web regarding the Protective Mothers Alliance (PMA), a grassroots advocacy organization that I helped to co-found and that is directed by Janice Levinson. I have been following the claims that have been made about PMA and about Janice; specifically, I have had the opportunity to review communications that have been shared between Janice and other individuals, and to see some of the extremely negative postings that have been made. In my opinion, the attacks that have been made on Janice and on PMA have to be called out for what they are: vicious, dishonest, threatening, and dehumanizing written assaults on a committed advocate and survivor, one who has worked tirelessly for the interests and rights of protective mothers and their children.

There are a number of sources of these attacks, but they come overwhelmingly from Claudine Dombrowski and the American Mothers Political Party (AMPP). I am not relying on Janice’s word in forming this conclusion; I have looked at many postings by Claudine and AMPP, and they are cruel, irresponsible, and outrageous. And they don’t stop; in fact, they’re getting worse over time.

Moreover, Claudine and AMPP have begun to attack a significant number of other protective mothers and their allies as well, with similar viciousness. The predictable effect of the movement’s reluctance to denounce this behavior is that it is growing and spreading.

To make sure that there is no doubt or confusion, I want to state that I give my wholehearted support to PMA and Janice Levinson. PMA has been an important and exciting development in the custody rights movement, and Janice Levinson’s work in organizing protective mothers has been excellent. I have found her to be a person of the highest integrity and commitment, combined with a deep commitment to treating participants with fairness and respect. Although she has been accused of various things, I cannot find a shred of truth to any of these accusations, and none of the accusations come from any source that I find in any way credible.

The accusations that have been made about PMA have been insulting and derisive in their tone, and have involved outright fabrications about the organization and how it works, and about Janice herself. There have also been accusations that Janice’s work is not actually associated with me, which is as bizarre as the other attacks. The attackers have used gutter language, have put up photos of Janice, and have written what can only be interpreted as threats against her. These behaviors serve to further discredit those who are making claims about PMA. These behaviors appear to come from just two or three disgruntled individuals who were angry about the appropriate requirements that the PMA structure involves, and who chose to retaliate in harmful and divisive ways.

Now for the most important part of this letter:
Claudine Dombrowski and AMPP are doing severe damage to the custody rights movement. Whatever their intentions may be, the actual effects of their actions is only to strengthen the position of the abusers. I have known of a number of individuals who have dropped out of the movement and/or who have declared that they won’t come to the BMCC anymore because they can’t stand the infighting and accusations, which are almost all traceable to the same few sources. I therefore have decided today — after viewing the latest round of unbelievable psychological assaults on Janice (see, for example, janicelevinson.blogspot.com, a blog that was created just to attack and humiliate Janice) — that I am taking the following stands:
1) I will not participate in any event or campaign that Claudine Dombrowski or AMPP are officially connected to.
2) I will not attend any event where Claudine and AMPP are present unless the organizers of the event have done everything in their power to keep them from attending.
3) I won’t work on any projects or collaborate with anyone who has worked with Claudine or AMPP in the past unless they now publicly and visibly denounce her actions.

I have waited some four years to take these steps, but now I regret that I waited so long. We cannot fight against the power and actions of abusers, and of the courts that enable them, while we remain silent and acquiescent in the face of severely abusive of treatment of our own allies.

Whatever divisiveness may result from drawing a line that places Claudine Dombrowski and AMPP outside of the custody rights movements will be far less than the divisiveness and other damage that are resulting from our failure to draw that line. So the movement needs us to take this stand.

But there is an even more important reason to take this stand, which is that it’s the right thing to do.

I ask that you not stand by quietly and allow Janice to be dragged through the mud. Please look at the attacks that have been made on her (and at the lack of any similar behavior coming from her). And then please inform everyone in your networks that you are denouncing the behavior of Claudine and the AMPP and that you do not intend to have them be part of the custody rights / protective mothers movement.

Isn’t their mission to advocate against abuse and abusers?

One of the organizations and professionals being bashed is PMA and Lundy Bancroft. The advocates, leaders and professionals within the victim advocacy movement all have stated many times that they respect and admire Lundy Bancroft. Why won’t any of these professionals and advocates defend Lundy Bancroft and help reveal the truth? Why was our link removed?

AMPP Attack Mothers Wage War – Blitzkrieg PMA, Lundy & Janice

You will see evidence that American Mothers Political Party (AMPP) has strategically, and systematically, organized their Flying Monkeys (aka supporters) to viciously attack Protective Mothers Alliance (PMA), Janice Levinson and astoundingly — Lundy Bancroft.

Keep in mind, AMPP is supposed to be part of the Mother’s Movement, and therefore, should be allies with PMA in the fight for family court reform. Lundy Bancroft is a respected leader in the fight for family court reform. Lundy is co-founder (along with Janice Levinson) of Protective Mothers’ Alliance International and has been a leader in the Mother’s Movement for decades. According to his online bio, Bancroft is an author, workshop leader, and consultant on domestic abuse and child maltreatment. He has worked with over a thousand abusers directly as an intervention counselor, and has served as clinical supervisor on another thousand cases. He has also served extensively as a custody evaluator, child abuse investigator, and expert witness in domestic violence and child abuse cases. Bancroft’s books ” Why Does He Do That? Inside The Minds Of Angry And Controlling Men” and “The Batterer as Parent” are considered as “bibles” in the Mother’s Movement. As you can see from this screenshot taken from the PMA page, it vows to be a “No Abuse Zone” (compare that to what AMPP is doing!)

A.T.W. has observed, and researched, that PMA is the ONLY organization in the Mother’s Movement that has stood up to, and took a stand against AMPP’s criminal activity and abuse. As a result, AMPP has escalated their attacks in retaliation. Below you will find a timeline supporting this.

Feb, 18, 2013 (Communication): After enduring vicious online attacks, cyber stalking and other forms of harassment and defamation, Bill Windsor of Lawless America, declares that American Mothers Political Party (AMPP) and their sister group Australian AMPP, are a hate group. He then blocks these groups (as best as he can, the members still make fake online profiles infiltrate, and stalk Windsor online).

Janice Levinson of Protective Mothers Alliance (PMA) responds that they have encountered similar problems with a member of Australian AMPP, who is using a fake name.
Direct Quote, “She is vicious and gave PMA, Lundy, and myself lots of problems too. Bill please call me. Need to speak with you.”

The Attack Mothers at AMPP respond by waging an online blitzkrieg against PMA–making false allegations about PMA, Levinson and Bancroft. AMPP has attempted to discredit PMA and spread lies to confuse and frighten people from working with or joining PMA. Claudine begins a self-promoting rant with quotes from Elie Wiesel, Auschwitz survivor, and Anne Frank, who perished in Dachau, in a manipulative attempt to justify her recent acts of character defamation & harassment; somehow trying to portray herself as the hero in an epic—but totally imaginary— battle of good vs evil. All these allegations by Claudine and her clubhouse are never substantiated with credible proof. They are just like the abuser exes they pretend to advocate against; throwing unprovoked, baseless allegations at their target, waiting and hoping- with the beat of an evil heart- that some allegations might stick.

So Claudine what do you consider a good cause? Look at these videos supported or created by AMPP members and ask yourself do you see honor, dignity and self respect… It seems the work of AMPP has been more focused on attacking people, and disgracing the memory of the Holocaust, than actually advocating for protective mothers and their children.

Has the FBI been notified about the judge? Looking at the story and the comments it is appauling that the judge is still on the bench.

WTF is PMA and why would they post that they were new and then fell apart in such a short period of time?

“Campus Cougars” is wrong to think PMA has fallen apart, the organization is still going strong, and has not been deterred from its mission to support abused mothers dealing with injustice in family court.

This next attack gets even worse. Mia Tyler Kailin speculates that PMA is compromising the privacy of its members, and her “proof” is frequent use of the word “IF”. Meaning she is making all this up.

If I had ever shared my court documents with PMA I would be scared to openly comment. If they had all my information I believe they could use it against me if I ever turned on them as they would have the names of all the parties, their attorneys, GAL, and other players.

I may carry the voice of some other mothers who can’t speak for the above reason. There is no alliance in the protective mothers alliance, as illustrated by Janice Levinson’s posts. The first one advertises their org instead of supporting the mother. On a page explaining a woman’s plight, Janice felt it was appropriate to spam for more business. Tacky at best. In regards to the second post. Who cares if Maria is still a part of PMA or not? The mothers whom she helps could care less what orgs she belongs to!

REALLY?!?! If the mothers who Melinn helps “could care less what org she belongs to” why then the need to attack PMA?

Kailin then lies and says PMA is part of the Father’s Rights Movement: “PMA is currently busy with Occupy Family Courts, they have teamed up. Occupy Family Courts has been supported by the fathers rights movement in Canada for a long time. Protective mothers beware, take care so that you too are not revictimized.”

More on this later.. Reading these online verbal attacks from AMPP just shows this group has no regard for the truth, and will just make stuff up rather than look for truth. AMPP cannot discern truth from lies, and seems to prefer telling lies when it suits their agenda…how then can this group ever advocate for abused women and children, where TRUTH MATTERS THE MOST?!?

What does this tell you?

1) American Mothers Political Party (AMPP) is intentionally spreading rumors and disinformation about Protective Mothers Alliance International (PMA). You cannot believe a word they say.

2) The lies AMPP is spreading is scaring some of the mothers who hear it, and keeping abuse victims from getting additional support/resources.

3) AMPP will make false allegations without any proof or evidence. AMPP creates fear, and triggers past memories of abuse and/or trauma to create an emotional reaction, meant to cause abuse victims to flee or go on the defense…. people then are manipulated into joining AMPP and waging a war against its “enemies”.

3) How Maria Bauer Melinn is treated? From what I can see, Melinn was treated with RESPECT!! It is the reaction from AMPP, and it’s members that is abusive and out of line!

We went our separate ways soon after my above posting. The parting was amicable. Melinn parted ways with PMA, and on her resume lists PMA as a reference. Are these the actions of someone who has been wronged? Melinn went on to become president of AMPP. AMPP admits they “hand selected” Melinn because of her experience working with battered women–she garnered some of this experience by working with PMA. These allegations that PMA somehow hurt Melinn is ridiculous–obviously not true.

I am executive director of an organization called Protective Mothers Alliance International. Maria is one of our State Chapter Leaders.
PMA has been in existence for only one year. Lundy Bancroft and I co founded PMA because of the desperate need to bring to light what is happening in family courts.

The point that I wish to make is that Maria’s situation is NOT an isolated occurrence.

PMA at present has approximately 70 state chapter leaders nationwide, and we are quickly growing in numbers everyday. Our leaders are all fit mothers who have their own nightmare story to tell. Sadly, this is an epidemic in this country.

Family court judges have placed gag orders on moms, taken children away from protective moms by ex parte orders when children were CLEARLY not in danger and have taken children away from loving, fit moms while they were kicking and screaming all the way. In some leaders situations, children were handed over to dads who were CONVICTED sex offenders.

The volume of human rights violations and the stories that PMA has heard in just one year, is profound. Double standards are the norm since it seems that dads can violate court orders with no consequences, yet if mom does EXACTLY the same thing , she gets thrown in jail. The time for this nonsense is quickly coming to an end however.

Pma has band together not only protective mothers but the CHILDREN who have aged out of the system and are now ready to speak out about how family court abuse has damaged their lives. When it comes “out of the mouth of babes” and we come together in solidarity by the hundreds( PMA and other advocacy groups) WITH our children all our voices will finally be heard and the light will shine on the truth.

Petition Attacks PMA, Janice Levinson – Sign to Take a Stand vs Abuse

American Mothers Political Party (AMPP) has sunk to an all time low, now encouraging people to sign this outrageous petition to demand that Janice Levinson, co-founder of Protective Mothers Alliance International (PMA), be removed for “re-victimizing battered mothers”. The cowards did not mention their name in creating this petition, but is obvious reading this garbage, who is behind it.

Janice Levinson’s role in PMA is inspirational–she is a protective mom who has survived domestic abuse and legal degredation, and is motivated to fight for change because of those experiences. Janice has worked to support abused women and their children seeking justice in family court through her work with PMA, and even offers a healing and prayer group to provide a safe haven for moms. Janice provides a real example that despite the pain and harship, you are more than a victim–your voice, your efforts, your love for your children and even your pain & challenges, can become a force for the good.

There is not one shred of proof, documentation, or evidence to support this petition and its claims. In fact, this is what happens to Abused Women in court.. The abuser makes outrageous and derogatory claims about the victim in order to harass, intimidate and seek control..and without any proof or real evidence. Those who believe these claims, and refuse to investigate the truth, then become willing accomplices to abuse, which is what PMA is raising awareness of, family court abuse. Only now instead of fighting against injustice and systematic failures, PMA and Janice Levinson are fighting to defend their reputation and organization against a bunch of Attack Mothers Punishing Protectivemoms (AMPP)!

AMPP has crossed the line from victim, and become the abuser. They are Attack Mothers Punishing Protectivemoms because their actions directly harm abused women and the Protective Mothers Movement. AMPP’s use of vulgar language, harassment and attacking anyone who would raise concerns–makes Protective Mothers and their Supporters look bad; it validates the abuser’s claims that she is “crazy”, an “alienator” and a “malicious mom”. So the abusers gain sympathy, and use these attacks to strengthen their cause. This means abused women and their children are not believed, and the children are at risk for further harm because their abuser is empowered.

AMPP tactics make it impossible for Protective Moms and Supporting Professional to lobby for reform because the group is so extreme that they cannot effectively communicate and cannot work within the framework of legal and court system. AMPP’s actions cause professionals, who may be a source of help, to become suspicious and entrenched against them. Think about it.. In one AMPP page, I found a referral to a family law judge, whose picture was prominently displayed, as a “Whore of the Court”. What professional is going to risk their reputation and career to support this? What professional or advocate is going to listen to these woman, and have compassion, if they feel they are being attacked–or that they could face legal charges or a civil suit for slander by standing alongside AMPP in these attacks. If you are working for change in family court, you need to be able to work with, and maintain the respect of professionals and helping advocates in order to be heard, and gain their support to fight alongside you. You cannot make meaningful change by adopting the tactics of the abuser!

Battered mothers across the world have relied upon reading books by author and domestic violence advocate, Lundy Bancroft, for several years. He co-founded a group along with, Janice Levinson, called Protective Mothers Alliace aka PMA.

When Willam M. Windsor began his smear campaign against another group of battered mothers by posting their private and confidential information online early in January of 2012 many survivors were disgusted and shocked. One had to be hospitalized due to the harassment and bullying.

American Mothers Political Party (AMPP) and Lorraine Tipton aka Mama Liberty is at it again with their hateful attacks, now declaring war on Protective Mother’s Alliance (PMA) International. While some AMPP members claim to support Lundy Bancroft, this means nothing when considering their words and actions.

Who is AMPP waging this “war” against? A well respected victim advocacy group, that alleges it has been a target of various AMPP attacks now–and in the past.

Janice Levinson along with Lundy Bancroft co-founded Protective Mothers Alliance International in April of 2009. Since then PMA has acquired more than 50 state chapter leaders in 30 states and several countries world wide.

JANICE LEVINSON: Janice Levinson holds a BA degree from Saint Leo University in Florida. She is a former teacher and protective mother of 3 grown children. She was a victim of the corrupt family court system for over a decade. Janice was never accused of any wrong doing as she was an outstanding stay at home mother. Janice is currently a nurse working on her BSN with a background in Psychiatric nursing.
